Leslie Griesdorf Follows Closely the Presidency of John F. Kennedy

Dr. Leslie Griesdorf’s avid interest in history concentrates on the events of United States President John F. Kennedy’s term in office, the Cuban Missile Crisis and Kennedy’s assassination in November of 1963.  The three years of Kennedy’s 1st term came to comprise a time of the greatest hope and greatest fears of most on the North American continent.  Griesdorf’s fascination with the era likely began during his formative years when these events were part of the daily news, as he saved the major Toronto newspaper chronicles of the period.  The Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 was a confrontation precipitated by the collusion between Soviet leader Nikita Krushchev and Cuban president Fidel Castro to install missile launch facilities on Cuba.

Events surrounding the tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union rightly concerned all countries on the North American continent, especially the highly industrialised and peace-loving Canadians of Dr. Leslie Griesdorf’s native Toronto.
